The proud winner of £45 million dollars, Matt and Casey Topham intends to build a 5 million eco-home. The lucky couple would also install sound-proofed cinema, garish waterfall and solar paneled pods. However, after learning about their dream home project, the people residing in the neighborhood don’t seem very happy about the whole building an eco-home idea. Matt Topham is a decorator and a former painter and his wife, Casey is a former supervisor of the Iceland supermarket. This newlywed couple won the lottery in February 2012; they used to reside in their Stapleford Council house worth of £89,950. They decided to buy a £ 1.2 million mansion in Adam Hills and moved there within seven months. The young couple has now decided to demolish the 1930’s mansion and build their dream house.
The neighbors seem to think that their dream house might look a little odd and weird in the neighborhood as it looks like a group of turtles. Matt and Casey have been described by the neighbors as “lucky people with bad taste” as they have decided to go for a unique and quite eccentric design and architect for their new home. There will be 8 bedrooms in their new home and it will be known by the name of “Serenity”. This dream home is also believed to have a botanical garden along with a grotto swimming pool and a waterfall-screened garage. The proposal of this dream project was submitted on Thursday which contained the outline of the property in details.
The architects responsible for designing this grand and huge eco mansion are based on London. They have described the property as a hidden retreat and a country house of 21st century. The garage is believed to accommodate 10 cars. The couple owns several extravagant cars from Jaguar XKR-S to Range Rover Evoque and also a Porsche. The waterfall installed in the garage will flow from the pool in the center of the property to the pool located below. The waterfall is also said to possess the capability of hiding the cars. There will be four sections of solar paneled hubs and also a very dramatic sweeping staircase. The property’s aesthetic value and quality is quite higher and it is energy efficient too. At least that is what the architects behind designing the whole property claim. In spite of all the perks and fancy decors and installations, the neighbors can’t seem to get over the fact that a 1930s mansion will be replaced by a bizarre looking turtle shaped home. The localities consider it both “tasteless” and “disgusting”.
The home seems ideal for a villain from a Bond movie. However, this grand country home was featured 'Wayne Manor’ in the movie The Dark Knight Rises. The locality, where the dream project of the euro millions winning couple is situated, is actually quite famous and posh. Princess Diana also stayed in the same locality in the 1990s for a brief period of time. The houses of this locality are worth approximately around £1.4million. Though the neighbors might end up cribbing about the unpleasant taste of the lottery winning couples, over all, the entire project has managed to hog considerable amount of limelight.
