After the state of Indiana and Illinois who have their lottery service privatized, now it is Pennsylvania that will have its lottery run privately. This state is giving the right to run the lottery to Camelot, the operator of biggest British lottery, the National Lottery. This privatization can hopefully increase the revenue and profit obtained from the lottery.
This new regulation has been in the state’s discussions for some weeks but it was just on January 11 that the government agreed to give it to Camelot. With this new policy, an estimated revenue of $50 million will be obtained in the new fiscal year.
The plan took a long time to be approved because the Democratic lawmakers have passed their judgment on it. The official said that this agreement between the state and Camelot will bring a lot of benefits for the state because even if the annual lottery sales target is not achieved, there will still be a lot of profits to get because it will provide $150 million fund to be donated, making up the shortfall for the state.
Pennsylvania has been showing a great sale in lottery and giving the operation to the right hand like Camelot can hopefully increase the sales.
