A group of teachers who won the lottery in 1987 got their final payment on October 21st this year. This lottery syndicate won the lottery 25 years ago and they decided to take the annuity payment rather than the lump sum as the lump sum would result in smaller cash to be divided among the group members.
In a little celebration to mark the last annual check they got this week, the group is quite grateful for the money they won although they could not buy many luxurious things they wanted such as a new jaguar, a fancy boat or a new house.
17 teachers of the elementary school of Herman Avenue were very thrilled to find out that they won $1 million on Oct. 21, 1987. They could not believe that they won as they have been playing in syndicate for a long time but they have never got a big jackpot. After taken 20% for the tax, each of the group member received around $231 per month for 25 years!
This is not a big money but it is still much bigger than the money they budget for buying the lottery which is $5 per week. All group members agree that they might not be able to live a luxurious life with the jackpot but they are very grateful for the bonus they receive every month.
