Last week seemed to be a lucky week for lottery players in Iowa as there were many of them who won big prizes in the Powerball games. A very fortunate player bought a ticket matching with the jackpot of $202.1 million in the city of Bondurant while there were also several winners scooping from $100,000 until $1 million.
According to Mary Neubauer, the spokesperson at the Iowa Lottery, a lot of people have been calling to clarify and claim the pries but nobody has stepped forward to claim for the big prizes. She hopes that the winners of the jackpots are Iowans although none of the big prizes are claimed. She really expects that the winners are local people though she knows that some of the money will still stay in Iowa even if the winners were not Iowans.
Mary’s expectation really makes sense because in this year only, there have been more than $450 million jackpots claimed in Iowa which means that there will be more contributions paid to state general fund. In 2012, fund paid to the state from lottery revenues by fiscal year has reached to $76 million, and contributions given to Iowa Veterans Trust have come to $2.7 million. This is fantastic so more Iowan win the lotteries, the state revenue will likely be increased.
