This lottery is one of the many famous lotteries in the world. The UK National Lottery can be found in the region of the United Kingdom and in the Isle of Man. It is a kind of state-franchised national lottery which is operated by Camelot Group which was granted a licence in 1994, then in 2001 and one more in 2007. This lottery was founded in 1994 by the Prime Minister John Major and now the National Lottery Commission regulates it.
The lottery winners will get the prizes which are paid as a lump sum and tax-free. National Lottery games will take one pound from each prize, which is distributed for the prize fund, “good causes” that Parliament has already set out, as duty to the UK Government, to the retailers as commission and to Camelot to cover operating costs and the last is as the profit.
On 19 November 1994, the first draw was held and the winners shared a prize of £5,874,778. As one of the most popular forms of gambling in the United Kingdom, the National Lottery has a new name as rebranding program in 2002. The new name was Lotto then renamed again as Lotto Extras. Yet, this collective game is still known as The National Lottery.
As the operator of the gambling, Camelot replaced the older lotto draw machines with the new ones in November 2009. Arthur, Guinevere, Lancelot and Merlin are the names which are used for the new machines, the same names used in the previous ones.
To participate in this lottery, players must be more than 16 years old, and are of various nationalities, as long as they purchase the tickets in the UK. It is also possible for the participants or players to buy the tickets online, but they must own a bank account in the UK. All citizens of the UK or the Isle of Man or those who are physically present there when purchasing tickets still have a chance to join the game as well. This kind of lottery can be joined by individual player or group with the same rules and regulations set by the commission.
