French Lotto or Francaise des Jeux is a lottery game run by a semi public company Francaise des Jeux Groupe since 1976. It was first held by the Government of France to raise funds and it has been regulated by the French Government with its 72% of stake. Along with the other games organized by the company, French Lotto, or Loto Francaise, has been one of the most frequently played lottery games in the country. It has been reported that 36 % of the adults in France or 15 million out of the total population play in the game.
The prizes in the game commence from EUR 2 million and will certainly increase every week. The matrix used in this game is the one of a double matrix of 5/49 and 1/10, meaning that the player has to select 5 numbers from the pool of balls numbered from 1 to 49.
