This is a jackpot lottery game which is traditionally drawn and owned by the state. The tickets were first sold on 20 October 1985. The first matrix used in the game was of 6/38 but was changed in June 1986 to be of 6/42. The matrix was again changed to be 6/44 in April 1989 and another on 20 May 2001 to be a matrix of 6/48 and it remains to today. Since September 1986, the guaranteed jackpot has been $1 million and it will continue to roll over until someone wins it. It will revert to the base amount of $1 million after that. The biggest jackpot ever won in the game was the one of $23 million on 31 July 1991.
The Oregon Megabucks game is drawn in Salem every Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 7.29 pm PST. When it was first introduced, it only took the draws once a week but on 3 June 1987 it was then increased to be twice a week. The last additional draw was put on 20, May 2001 at the same time as the first use of Random Number Generator machine for the draws.
As the matrix used in the game is the one of 6/48 so it means that to join the game a player should select 6 numbers from a pool of 48 numbers. If he can match all the six numbers, he will then be called the Oregon Megabucks jackpot winner. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 12.27 million and these are quite good chances compared with many other lottery games. There are still other 3 prize categories that can be won in the game. Even for winning any prizes in the game, someone has to beat the odds of 1 in just 25. These are certainly very favorable for any lottery game players.
The forms of winning in the game will be in a cash lump sum or annuity installments. The Oregon Megabucks was the first lottery game in USA to give the 2 different options of the jackpot in 1990. If someone wins the prizes in the game, he will need to claim and decide the winning form within 60 days. If he has not confirmed in 60 days, the winning will automatically be given in the form of annuity. Only people above 18 can join the game.
