Canada Western 6/49 is the only West’s game that is played in the Prairie Provinces and the Territories, Manitoba, Yukon, Northwest Territories, Nunavut and Saskatchewan. This lottery game is offered by Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC) that was founded in 1974 and based in Winnipeg, Manitoba as a non-profit organization. This organization is running some lottery games and also game-related activities for its members. Besides Western 6/49, WCLC runs Lotto 6/49, Lotto Max, Payday, Pick 3 and Proline. This game is drawn every Wednesday and Saturday and players can purchase the tickets on the date of the draw. In this game, there are six numbers plus one bonus number drawn and the draw is held right after 08.00 pm Central Time, 07.00 pm Mountain Time, and at 06.00 pm Pacific Time.
This lottery game will award the winner $ 1 million in every draw and it is not carried over. To join this game, players only pay $ 1 in a lottery retailer and they will get a two-set number selections consisting six number selections; one is picked by the player and the other is done by the ticket terminal at the time of purchase. Players, actually, have two options in picking the numbers, they can select the numbers themselves or they can have the terminal computer do the selection by using Quick Pick feature. Choose six numbers from a range numbers of 1 to 49. When players win the game, they can claim their prizes within 12 months of the draw. So, the claim will be expired automatically after 12 months. They can redeem the prizes only in the Prairie Provinces or the Territories. The biggest jackpots will be shared among winners if there is more than one winner in one draw. In this lottery game, all prizes (cash and merchandise) within Canada are free of tax.
The tickets of this game are not sold outside Canada. If you want to join the game, you can get the tickets in the appointed retailers within the respective borders. If you just visit your friends or relatives in other territory and want to play the game, you can still buy the tickets there. However, the claim of the winning prize must be in that region. All information about the names and address of the selling tickets can be found at the back of the tickets. Tickets can be purchased in the appointed retailers but not in the internet.
